Scarf / shawl made from 100% pure Laotian silk mixed with high quality cotton

This beautiful scarf is hand-woven from Laotian pure silk mixed with high-quality cotton, naturally hand-dyed with leaves, barks, barks, berries and seeds.

The traditional Lao silkworm produces a very short yellow strand that can only be reeled by hand, thanks to this traditional process silk is of very high quality.

Silk weaving for daily use and for rituals has been an integral part of life and culture in Laos for centuries. Most Lao village women learned the art of weaving and the traditional designs from their mothers when they were little girls.
This eco-friendly scarf makes a perfect accessory and adds style to any outfit!
Striking designs, colors and workmanship in this beautiful shawl/textile piece can be also used to decorate the house as a table runner or wall decoration.

•    100% Lao pure silk mixed with high-quality cotton
•    Authentic handmade with loom
•    Twisted fringes
•    Naturally dyed

Silk scarves are lightweight, soft and also hypoallergenic. Silk is a breathable fabric, therefore regulates the body temperature keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter.

Laos is one of the poorest countries in the world. During the Vietnam War, it was heavily bombed. Duds and mine fields still endanger the population. In addition, the autocratic government has not been able to provide the residents with a comprehensive health system, a functioning infrastructure, independent legal authorities or a good educational system. Unemployment is high. Still villagers mostly pursue subsistence farming, growing rice and herding small livestock. Being part of traditional silk production is providing local people with employment and additional income.
Silk scarves are traditionally worn across the shoulders to complement a Laos skirt or Sinh.

Product Care:

Hand wash separately. Do not soak. Drip dry in shade.

The handmade nature of textiles in my shop means that they may have imperfections from the natural process of weaving or dying, often adding to their character and uniqueness.

Colors may differ ever so slightly to the pictures due to different viewing monitors/device displays.

Our mission is to support ethnic minorities, protect their heritage, and support the educational needs of the children of the Tribes.

We want you to THINK about the impact that your choices have on the environment, other people and their cultures.

We buy directly from Tribes around the world to encourage the younger generations to learn their ancestor's handcraft which is an important part of their culture. In recent years, most younger members of the Tribes are moving to bigger cities looking for jobs and better lives.

We hope that by providing them opportunities to earn extra income learning and making the traditional handcraft in their home villages we can change this trend and protect the Tribes craft from extinction.

The second part of our mission is supporting children's education.

A percentage of our profits is invested in education so every child can learn to read and write, giving them a fair chance at a prosperous life beyond poverty and homelessness.
